Radiation & Targeted Cancer Therapy

Precision treatments designed to support your cancer care plan.

Cancer treatment often requires multiple specialists working together. When targeted therapy or specialized vascular access is needed, interventional oncology can provide minimally invasive solutions that support the broader oncology treatment strategy.

At Well&You, our physicians use image-guided techniques to deliver therapy directly where it is needed while minimizing impact on surrounding healthy tissue.

These procedures are typically performed in coordination with the patient’s oncologist or hepatologist and are designed to complement—not replace—systemic cancer treatment.

A Collaborative Approach to Treatment

Interventional oncology therapies are most effective when integrated into a coordinated cancer care plan.

At Well&You, we work closely with referring physicians and oncology teams to determine when targeted therapies may benefit a patient.

Our approach includes:

  • Detailed imaging and treatment planning
  • Careful evaluation of tumor location and blood supply
  • Minimally invasive catheter-based techniques
  • Coordination with oncology teams for follow-up care

This collaborative model ensures that each therapy supports the patient’s overall treatment strategy.

Targeted Cancer Treatments We Provide

Our interventional oncology team focuses on procedures that allow therapy to be delivered directly to the tumor or that support systemic cancer treatment.

Y-90 radioembolization is a targeted internal radiation therapy used primarily to treat tumors located in the liver.

During the procedure, tiny radioactive microspheres are delivered through a catheter into the blood vessels feeding the tumor. This allows radiation to be concentrated within the tumor while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy liver tissue.

Y-90 may be considered when:

  • Liver tumors cannot be surgically removed
  • Cancer is confined primarily to the liver
  • Other therapies have not provided sufficient control
  • Tumor reduction is needed prior to transplant or additional therapy

Eligibility is determined through collaboration with the patient’s oncology team.

Many cancer treatments require repeated intravenous medications such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or supportive treatments.

Implanted ports provide a safe and reliable way to deliver these medications over time.

A small device is placed beneath the skin and connected to a vein, allowing medications to be administered without repeated needle access to peripheral veins.

Ports can:

  • Improve comfort during ongoing treatment
  • Protect veins from repeated access
  • Allow easier delivery of chemotherapy and other medications
  • Support long-term cancer treatment plans

Placement is performed using minimally invasive techniques and typically requires only a short outpatient procedure.

Who May Be Referred

Patients are often referred for these procedures when:

  • A liver tumor requires targeted radiation therapy
  • Systemic cancer therapy requires long-term vascular access
  • Additional localized treatment is recommended by the oncology team
  • Minimally invasive options are preferred to support ongoing cancer care

Our physicians work closely with referring providers to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

Insurance and Financial Guidance

Many interventional oncology procedures are covered by insurance when medically necessary. Well&You works with most major insurance plans, including Medicare.

Our Patient Navigators assist with:

  • Insurance verification
  • Prior authorization coordination
  • Cost explanation before treatment
  • Financial counseling and payment options when needed
